General
Is IlmHub free to use?
Yes. The Quran, hadith, duas, bayans, prayer times and tools are free and ad-free. Donations to the projects keep the site running.
Which Asr time do you show?
The site uses one calculation for everyone, set by the team – the standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) or the Hanafi Asr. Where the team allows it, you can choose your own in My IlmHub.
How do you make sure content is authentic?
Every page cites its source. Hadith carry their grading, and articles on rulings, hadith and tafsir are checked by a second person before publishing.
How do I get my masjid listed or its times corrected?
Write to us through the contact page with the masjid's details and timetable. Our team checks every listing and keeps the iqamah times and events up to date.
Prayer times
How are the prayer times calculated?
From the position of the sun for your city, with the calculation method and Asr setting chosen for this site. You can change both for yourself in My IlmHub.
Why do prayer times differ between apps and my masjid?
Fajr and Isha depend on how far the sun is below the horizon – calculation methods use anything from 15° to 19.5°. Some masjids also add a few minutes of caution. Choose the same method and minute adjustments as your masjid and the times will match.
Which calculation method should I use for my country?
North America commonly uses ISNA (15°/15°); Europe and much of Asia use the Muslim World League; the Gulf uses Umm al-Qura; Pakistan, India and Bangladesh use Karachi; Egypt uses the Egyptian General Authority. When in doubt, ask your local masjid which method its timetable follows.
What happens in high-latitude cities?
Above roughly 48° latitude true dawn and dusk can merge in summer. The angle-based rule is used by default, with the middle-of-the-night and one-seventh options – the same rules used by major fatwa councils for northern Europe and Canada.
Donations
Do I get a receipt for my donation?
Yes. Every paid donation has a downloadable receipt in My IlmHub, and a copy is e-mailed to you.
Can I pay my zakat here?
Yes. Projects marked “Zakat-eligible” were checked by our scholars for the eight categories of Surah At-Tawbah 9:60. Choose “Zakat” on the form and it is recorded separately from sadaqah.
Can I give every month?
Yes – choose “Monthly”. Each month we send you a reminder with a one-tap pay link, and you can pause or stop it any time in My IlmHub.
